BMI Center welcomes new Domain Leader - Associate Professor Jiaojiao Shang for the new leading research direction on polymer chemistry and molecular engineering of novel phenolic building blocks. Prof. Shang obtained her Ph.D. degree at the highly-reputed University of Hamburg, Germany (Advisor: Prof. Patrick Theato). Her previous research has been focusing on the stimuli-responsive polymers, specifically in drug release, biosensors, actuators and nanoreactors owing to their “smart” responsiveness to external stimuli, such as light, temperature, enzymes, pH, gases, etc. In her new leading position at BMI Center, she will lead the research on biomass-based actuators and sensors fabricated from hydrogels and nanofibers.
